Ideation in action: Navigating logistics challenges with the Open Logistics Foundation!

On the 16th of November 2023, our Innovation Community gathered in Dortmund at the BioMedizine Zentrum to discuss new ideas and topics that the Open Logistics Foundation should work on next. These topics revolved around specific logistical and supply chain challenges best addressed through collaboration and open source solutions. We extend our gratitude to all the participants for their invaluable contributions, dedication, and active involvement in making the Ideation Workshop 2023 a resounding success.

Digital Logistics Award 2023: Mansio, CO2OPT, and bobbie for 1Lieferschein Consortium triumph

On the 12th of September, during the Zukunftskongress 2023, seven finalists of the Digital Logistics Award 2023 had the opportunity to deliver a compelling 3-minute pitch and engage in a spontaneous lightning round of questions before an audience of over 500 logistics decision-makers. Their goal was to persuade these industry leaders that their innovative ideas were the best, seeking their valuable votes. Later that evening, at the prestigious Phoenix des Lumières in Dortmund, the top three winners were revealed: MANSIO, CO2OPT GmbH, and bobbie for 1Lieferschein consortium secured the first, second and third place, respectively. The Open Logistics Foundation congratulates the winners and looks forward to seeing their projects scale across the industry.

We are happy to announce that our Working Group Open Customs Blockchain, represented together with our partners ALS Customs Services and Fraunhofer IML, has been selected as part of the 20 use cases participating in the first cohort of the European Blockchain Regulatory Sandbox. Given the support and joint efforts involved, this opportunity promises significant progress in digitalising customs processes.

The Open Logistics Foundation congratulates the eight finalists that stood out to the jury from the pool of 52 applications from 18 countries and four continents! The start-ups: Arinto Maritime GmbH, bobbie for 1Lieferschein consortium, CO2OPT GmbH, Heylog GmbH, Konsent GmbH, MANSIO GmbH, NxtLog and Swoove Inc, get to pitch their innovative idea at the Zukunftskongress Logistik. More than 500 logistics decision-makers will vote for the top 3 best ideas that will win up to 24,000€ in prize money to develop their idea further. At the ONE Record Hackathon in Seeheim on 23rd June 2023, our partner the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, introduced NE:ONE, an innovative open source ONE record server software for the air cargo community. Following the publication of NE:ONE in the Open Logistics Foundation Repository, the Working Group Digital Air Cargo accomplished a significant milestone in digitising and streamlining operations within the air cargo industry.

On the 13th of June 2023 at the IPIC-International Physical Internet Conference: Expanding the Logistics Scope 2023 in Greece, the Open Logistics Foundation was awarded the “ALICE Logistics Innovation Award”, in recognition of outstanding engagement and achievements in creating open source software and de-facto standards for the logistics industry. This award acknowledges the work done within our innovation community and conveys once more that the industry’s pain points can best be solved as a community.
