Inspired by the Japanese concept meaning “a reason for being”, the EU-funded IKIGAI project aligns freight transport and logistics operations with the Physical Internet (PI) vision. A Horizon Europe Innovation Action project, IKIGAI supports the digital and green transition of freight logistics, helping companies transition towards a greener, more efficient, and collaborative future – known as Twin Transition.
The expected results are:
- Scalable innovation solutions, harmonised standards and practical tools to help companies reach PI-compliant practices
- Accelerated progress towards zero-emission logistics by 2050
As an IKIGAI consortium partner, OLF leads the project’s governance work. This includes shaping the neutral rules, trust mechanisms and standardisation principles that will underpin collaborative logistics across the sector, from early groundwork through to the launch of the PI Coalition. OLF also contributes to market analyses, pilot demonstrations, and exploitation strategies, helping translate collaborative logistics innovations into models that companies of any size, including SMEs, can adopt.
