Rethinking open source for logistics
Our Foundation.
The Open Logistics Foundation’s primary goal is to facilitate the collaborative development of open source software to address existing problems in logistics and supply chain management. Our members implement common standards and develop tools and services, which can be used commercially by any player in the industry.

Future logistics runs on open source
Established in 2021 by four major companies in logistics and supply chain management, the Open Logistics Foundation is a non-profit operating foundation advocating the promotion of open source applications in logistics.
These are our statutory objectives:
- Operating an open and neutral platform for the joint development of open source software and hardware components
- Developing and establishing de facto standards
- Publishing open source software and hardware components
- Establishing and maintaining an open source community
- Merging results from science, applied research, and practice into practical open source applications
- Providing further education and training in the field of digitalisation
Our work is financed by member fees collected by Open Logistics e. V. – our support association. Any company can become a member of the support association and join our network in order to initiate and drive forward open source projects together with other companies. Donations and endowments are appreciated.

A platform for shared innovation
The Open Logistics Foundation operates the Open Logistics Repository, a technical platform allowing collaborative development of open source software (OSS) and hardware (OSH). The Repository also makes open source interfaces, reference implementations, and components available for use under a free (i.e. permissive) licence. Furthermore, it monitors the quality and security of the developed open source tools and ensures neutrality regarding their development.
Via the Open Logistics Repository, all components jointly developed by our members are available for any company interested.
