Digital Air Cargo

The air cargo industry faces pressure to speed up processes and provide real-time information-sharing. The Working Group Digital Air Cargo (DAC) aims to make both efficient, transparent, and future-proof.

Join our air cargo open source community!

We are currently looking for interested members to join us in exploring further exciting topics in air cargo, such as the standardisation of bookings across different air freight carriers or the optimisation of hinterland transport and of dispatching in coordination between IT service providers, road carriers and air carriers.

n

Common challenges

The degree of digitalisation in air cargo is still low: The multitude of small players at airports – from pick-up to delivery – increases the difficulty of digital networking and automation of processes. Because of this, many processes are still paper based. Although the plane is one of the fastest modes of transport, the transit times of goods on the ground are, mainly because of paper-based and non-digital processes, (too) long – despite the fact that the cargo transported by plane is often fragile or perishable and thus time critical.

Regular meeting

Our regular meeting takes place online every first Monday of the month from 14:30 – 15:30.

The IATA ONE Record standard will heavily improve data visibility among Air Freight carriers, forwarders and shippers. To benefit from this technology, early onboarding of all involved transporting stakeholders is key!
