SUMMARY:Spotlight Session: Trusted digital documents with eSEAL
DESCRIPTION:As the logistics industry moves toward digital document exchange\, trust becomes essential. Digital processes need reliable ways to guarantee authenticity\, integrity\, and legal certainty across companies and national borders. \nThe Open Logistics Foundation’s supplementary component eSEAL addresses this challenge with an open source implementation of advanced electronic seals aligned with the European eIDAS Regulation. Instead of developing separate trust mechanisms for individual document types\, eSEAL provides a reusable trust layer that can support an expanding ecosystem of digital logistics documents. \nThis Spotlight Session will explore the legal and technical foundations behind the Open Logistics Foundation’s eSEAL approach\, currently used in the OLF-eCMR Toolbox\, including: \n\nWhy advanced electronic seals are particularly suited to logistics use cases\nHow electronic seals differ from electronic signatures\nHow the Foundation has translated legal requirements into an open\, interoperable\, and reusable software component\n\nParticipants will also gain insight into how the eSEAL component extends beyond eCMR. As the Foundation expands its portfolio of digital transport document components – including its newest initiative\, the eDeliveryNote – the same trust mechanism can serve as a reusable building block for these developments. \nBy combining open source development\, open standards\, and legal compliance\, the Foundation is creating a practical blueprint for trusted digital document exchange. This approach reduces complexity\, promotes interoperability across the logistics sector\, and establishes a scalable foundation for future initiatives. \nJoin us to discover why we developed eSEAL the way we did and how you can use the approach in your own digital document solutions. See you there! \n  \nSpeakers\nJens Leveling | Technology Advisor (Open Logistics Foundation) and Lead Software Architecht (Fraunhofer IML) \nDr. David Saive\, LL.M. | Legal Product Owner (Open Logistics Foundation) and Lawyer (Tug & Tow® | Legal)
